Eye Makeup Must-Haves

I don’t want to leave all of you hanging when it comes to what makeup to buy. I have been using the eye makeup discussed in this article every day and I have all of the inside information that you need on these products!

Eyelid Primer: When people first get into makeup they often don’t know what eyelid primer even is, so they don’t use it. That is a HUGE mistake! Eyelid primer is used to preserve your eyeshadow for the day. Think of it as facial primer. If you don’t use it, you’re not protecting your face from makeup (and possibly blemishes).

  • Drugstore: Nyx High Definition Eyeshadow Base
This was my first ever eyelid primer and it does the job! It is easy to apply and has a smooth, creamy feel to it.
  • Luxury: Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
If any of you know me, you know that I have veiny eyelids. This primer works wonders by covering them up for me. It also holds my eyeshadow on for the whole day.

Eyeliner: Eyeliner has to be one of the most dreaded makeup products. It is also one of the hardest to apply. I still have problems applying it. Eyeliner, when done correctly, can add the finishing touches to your eye look and make your eyes pop. I found no drugstore eyeliners that were worth sharing. When it comes to eyeliners, splurge on the luxury ones.

  • Luxury: Kat Von D Tattoo Liner
This eyeliner is one of my all-time favorites. I was first introduced to this gem in a sample from Sephora. After using it for a while, I fell in love with it. When the sample began to run out, I had to get the full-size version. I now use this eyeliner for any event that I go to or if I’m feeling like I need a little extra one day. The felt tip allows for an easy, smooth application and it lasts all day. This would be a great stocking stuffer!

Mascara: Many call this a girl’s best friend and, in the end, it is. Even if I’m running late in the morning, I can’t leave the house without my mascara. Mascara adds that volume to your lashes that makes you swoon, or at least I do.

  • Drugstore: Avon Wash-Off Waterproof Mascara
This is going to be a shocker to many of you, but this “drugstore” mascara is all you need! If you haven’t used this brand, you need to try it. It truly is an amazing mascara. When I was a competitive cheerleader, this was my go-to mascara because I could rely on it to not run when I would get sweaty.

Eyeshadow: Just like eyeliner, it is better to go for the luxury brand of eyeshadow. I haven’t had good experiences with drugstore eyeshadows. I think you’ll be happier with a luxury palette. It will be worth the extra money!

  • Luxury: Morphe X Jacklyn Hill Palette
Anyone who is obsessed with makeup knows Jacklyn. This palette was so hard to get. It took me about six months to get my hands on it. As soon as I put the first transition shade on, I was in love. This palette has 35 BEAUTIFUL, creamy shades. Whenever I put them on my eyes, the eyeshadow feels so good that I can barely tell that I’m wearing any eye makeup. THIS IS A MUST HAVE! This palette contains transition colors, shimmers, mostly warm tones, and four cool tones. If you do not own this palette, PLEASE GO BUY IT!
