Berry Cherry Pie

Pie makes me happy. But I do NOT like pies that require lots washing, peeling, and chopping, so I created this perfect fruit pie. As with all of my food inventions, it meets my criteria of easy, delicious, and nutritious….

What to Pack in Your Kids’ Lunch

Our Wellness Contributor, Tara Felice, is an expert at finding truly nutritious food that her kids will actually eat. That seems like a miracle to me, so I wanted to find out exactly what she packs in their school lunches to make all moms’ and dads’ lives easier. Here’s her list….

Banana Ginger Smoothie

Smoothies are out there…everywhere! You can’t get away from them, so you might as well join in. However, let’s join in the “right” way! Some smoothies are infused with so much sugar, processed flavors, and absolutely NO nutrition. I prefer a smoothie that is high in protein and fiber, which can make you feel fuller, is nourishing, and has less calories. This recipe includes ginger. I LOVE ginger because of its many benefits. It can be a pain reliever, help with digestion, reduce nausea symptoms, and is an anti-inflammatory. With my recipe, I’ve made it simple for you to make this healthy, wholesome, and tasty treat…

Macaroni Tuna Salad

Summer is not summer until my mom makes this macaroni tuna salad! It’s nice and homeycozy (my new word for the dictionary). When I started making it myself, I got rave reviews! Of course, I “healthed” it up a bit. Here is my version…

Pasta Salad

Believe it or not, Memorial Day is around the corner! I have always loved Memorial Day; not only because my husband’s birthday falls near it, but because it is the beginning of our warmest season! My husband and our kids, Tom and Andrea, RV’d. Memorial Day weekend was the official start of our camping season. It’s great when you have nutritious food, like this pasta salad, when you’re “on the road”. I decided on this recipe after my sister-in-law, Peg, made a delicious pasta salad for a family get-together. Here is my rendition…

Protein-Packed Breakfast

I’ve invented another breakfast option for us. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m always hungry, especially in the morning. If I don’t fill up properly first thing, my body is in agony until lunch. And no one needs that. Here’s our delicious and nutritious new breakfast…

Gorgonzola Soup

I love soup. Specifically, creamy soup. I find it to be magical. Especially when you pack it full of nutrients and it still tastes delicious. This makes it the perfect snack that fills you up! My latest soup creation is gorgonzola…

Game Day Dip

I like fun food. I like it even more when it’s nutritious! So, I created this delicious and healthy dip for the big game day (not that I know when that is or who could be playing). Here’s the very easy recipe…

Superbowl Healthy Hoagie

SUPERBOWL SUNDAY is February 7, 2016! I LOVE watching the Superbowl, new-fangled commercials, and best of all…………..FOOOOOOOD!  When my husband and I married, he never watched sports.  He followed his father and watched Westerns every weekend.  NOT in my house.  Watching sports is a very warm and cozy time for me.  I know that sounds weird, but that’s me!  Anyway, I digress.  One of my favorite foods to make for this day is my Cheddar Chicken Sausage Mini Subs.  It is a healthier version of the original I used to make years ago.  You may think it is more work to make something healthier, but this is easy!   Go for it…starting on the 50-yard line: Superbowl Cheddar Chicken Sausage Mini Subs ¾ lb Cracker Barrel 2% Cheddar cheese (that’s 1 ½ bars) 2 cups (12 oz. package) cubed chicken sausage (I use Aidell’s All Natural Smoked Chicken & Apple Smoked Sausage-it is FREE of nitrites and seedless!) ¼ cup mayonnaise (I use Cains All Natural Mayonnaise-it is free of preservatives!) 8 whole wheat hot …
